Conzelman Road headed west from the top of Hawk Hill becomes a one way. Continue on this beautiful little winding road to Point Bonita. There you can take a nice half mile walk to the 150 year old, still working lighthouse at the Point itself. To get inside the lighthouse you must go through a tunnel and cross some foot bridges. The last bridge swings and only two people are allowed at a time so there will probably be a wait. Be sure to confirm exactly when the lighthouse is open by calling (415)331-1540. Named after one of the most iconic sections of coastline and Insta-inspiring gravel riding of the American West, the Marin Headlands embodies everything about this beautiful and rugged terrain. A full, unidirectional carbon chassis is purpose-built for multi-surface adventures, be they short days or long weeks in the saddle. The 1x specific construction of the frame means short chainstays that still fit up to 700x45mm/650Bx47mm tires, and paired with the longer top tube and shorter stems the bike takes cues from modern mountain bikes on technical off-road trail, while still maintaining a comfortable, fast, and efficient ride on flatter terrain.

The big room has comfy couches and a fireplace that we really enjoyed. We warmed up our dinner and took advantage of the oatmeal supplied for breakfast. The location is simply superb! 10 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge! Seems impossible that this quiet location in nature could be so close to the you for a great stay! USA, Female, 41+
Even before our arrival staff Becca was trying her hardest to make the best accommodations for me and my husband, as this was his first hostel experience. Upon our arrival Sarah was absolutely wonderful- bridged the gap between empty moments and meaningful conversations with us and the community. We will definitely be back to this and visit other hostels as my husband had a great experience with meeting new people from many different countries. The space is secluded outside the big city of SF. It was perfect for my daughter and I to relax and spend time together. The Marin Headlands location was an awesome older building with tons of character, the staff was awesomeness me, and the prices were an order of magnitude lower than anything else in the area.
In addition to hiking and biking trails, pristine beaches, and ample opportunities for bird-watching, the Headlands boast some of the best views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and the City by the Bay. The Headlands also border several other popular destinations, including Muir Woods, where you can hike among the coastal redwoods, and Mount Tamalpais, famous for its panoramic views of San Francisco. Nearby shopping and dining options are just 5 miles away in the coastal town of Sausalito. San Francisco is just a short drive or bike ride away over the Golden Gate Bridge, and is also reachable by ferry from Sausalito. PLEASE NOTE: public transportation from San Francisco to the Marin Headlands is currently only available on weekends. View House Rules
